Menter Aberteifi Cyf
We are a community regeneration company based in the Cardigan area. We were set up through a Cardigan Town Council initiative in 1996 ‘to promote and implement the successful regeneration of Cardigan Town for the benefit of the community’. The organisation has since developed as a not-for-profit social enterprise limited by guarantee and operated by an elected board of volunteer directors.

Menter Aberteifi has grown over the years, initiating and facilitating the development of community regeneration projects in the Cardigan area, gaining a reputation as a proactive community regeneration group that assists and acts as an interface between voluntary, statutory and commercial bodies.
The company welcomes contributions from all who are concerned about the economy and the physical and social environment of Cardigan and the surrounding area. We offer local people a non-political route of active involvement in addressing the needs of the community. Over the years hundreds of individuals and many voluntary groups have become engaged in our activities.
Current Projects
Guildhall Management
Menter Aberteifi worked in partnership with Cardigan Building Preservation Trust, to undertake restoration of the Guildhall, Cardigan, raising and managing £1.3 million of funding, bringing this historic building back into full use as a multi-purpose community centre, corporate & private venue and community gallery. Menter Aberteifi now manages the Guildhall, with an office in the building.
Cardigan Guildhall Market
Over the last few years we have brought the Market Hall into the portfolio and a feasibility study was carried out for the restoration of the building. Work on a comprehensive refurbishment of the building, expected to cost around £2.8million will begin in 2022. We now manage the building and actively support the 30+ traders who operate from there.
Cardigan River & Food Festival
Cardigan’s River & Food Festival has grown to attract thousands of people to the town every year. Although the festival is now in its 22nd year, our objective remains the same: to celebrate the quality and diversity of the superb local and independent food, drink and craft producers that abound in Wales.
Tourism Marketing
Menter Aberteifi has been actively involved in promoting tourism to the local area for many years. Our website www.visitcardigan.com is a highly ranked comprehensive tourism site, under constant development.
Dros Y Tonnau
Over the Waves is a Menter Aberteifi project that draws together the rich maritime heritage of south west Ceredigion and the Lower Teifi Valley. Working with communities we highlight local heritage on our website and social media. The project has created information panels and created heritage trails.
Digital Heritage Station
Menter Aberteifi has been appointed Ceredigion’s Digital Heritage Station by the People’s Collection Wales Casgliad y Werin Cymru. This is a local archive of historical photographs and documents. We are also custodians of the 2010 History Collection which is a records of photographs and documents collected as part of the celebration of 900 years of the establishment of Cardigan town.
